# The Lantern Relay - controlled character-consistency brief

This is an original fictional benchmark written for LlamaGen's eight-character consistency evaluation. It contains no third-party characters, brands, or copyrighted story material.

## Premise

The floating city of Veyra loses power during its annual lantern festival. Eight members of the municipal rescue crew must carry a portable light core from the observatory to the harbor grid before the city's lower platforms detach. The chapter follows the same registered cast through changing camera distances, expressions, lighting, motion, partial occlusion, and pairings.

## Registered cast

1. **Asha Vale** - a dark-skinned woman in her late twenties, with copper microbraids gathered high, round gold goggles, and a long teal flight coat with orange piping.
2. **Ren Ito** - an East Asian man in his mid-thirties, with a silver undercut, an indigo mechanic jumpsuit, and a red mechanical left arm.
3. **Mireya Sol** - a Latina woman in her early forties, with a sharp black bob and one white streak, hexagonal glasses, and a crimson medic coat.
4. **Dax Orun** - a tall dark-skinned man around fifty, bald with a short gray beard, wearing a mustard command mantle and a blue cybernetic right eye.
5. **Pippa Kade** - a pale nonbinary courier of nineteen, with mint-green pixie hair, a violet cropped hoodie, and a bright orange cross-body satchel.
6. **Toma Reyes** - a Latino man in his late twenties, with long brown curls tied back, a cream pilot suit, a cobalt scarf, and a small scar through his left eyebrow.
7. **Nia Quill** - a South Asian woman in her early thirties, with a long black braid, crescent earrings, and an emerald archivist robe with gold geometric trim.
8. **Bo Kellan** - an older East Asian woman in her mid-fifties, broad-shouldered, with short white curls, navy engineer coveralls, and heavy yellow work gloves.

## Chapter outline

When the observatory alarm sounds, Asha and Ren release the portable core while Mireya and Dax clear the evacuation route. Pippa, Toma, Nia, and Bo assemble at the darkened transit platform. The crew divides into pairs, compares map fragments, crosses a flooded tunnel, repairs a broken lift, and carries the core through a windstorm.

At the bridge, the same cast must remain recognizable under emergency red light and blue lightning. Some faces are shown close up; others appear in profile, from a low angle, or partly hidden behind equipment. The crew changes partners repeatedly so that identity is tested in multi-character scenes rather than isolated portraits.

The final relay brings all eight roles to the harbor grid through a sequence of two-person handoffs. Dax gives the launch order, Asha reconnects the core, and the city lanterns return. The last four panels revisit earlier pairings in dawn light to test whether each character still matches the registered reference after forty generated panels.

## Evaluation rule

Every panel must contain exactly the two named cast members listed in the panel plan and no additional people. Reviewers score every actual appearance against the character's approved reference using face geometry, hair, age, skin tone, signature clothing colors, body silhouette, and unique accessories. A panel fails identity review if either named character is missing, swapped, merged, duplicated, or no longer recognizable. Failed first outputs and every targeted redraw remain part of the evidence record.
